Since the HLWA began the program of making and delivering house address signs and dock signs, we have sold quite a few as Christmas gifts and as birthday presents. They do make great gifts, and they just may be the cause for a speedy response to a crucial medical problem in one’s home.

Recently, a local contractor ordered another set of signs, and I asked him where he was installing them, since I was aware he had already installed one at his home. He told me he was aware of the importance of a prompt response by the fire and police departments and emergency medical personnel and, therefore, had decided he would order a sign as a gift for his client as he began to work on a new house. He also said he had ordered one for his mother’s home.

What a great idea! I would like to suggest to all of our members who are realtors or contractors, order signs for each of your clients. The signs may just save someone’s life. The Winchester police department, fire department and emergency medical personnel need an accurate house identification to guarantee a prompt response. Easily visible numbers are also important to commercial delivery services.

The HLWA will provide uniform, visible numbers for the homes in our community. We are recommending placing the same metal panel with house numbers on your dock to aid the police marine patrol in case of an emergency. For those who are interested in placing a larger panel on their house, we have designed a large, green panel with an HLWA logo.
