Lucy Goosey Takes a Flyer

by Dick Labich

If you have noticed a strange-looking goose hanging out on the lake with the Canada geese, her name is Lucy Goosey and she is a pet Toulouse goose owned by Ruth Sanden.

It was apparent Lucy had taken a vacation from her home at Ruth’s Platt Hill home when Ruth noticed Lucy hanging out with her Canadian cousins on the lake on the Fourth of July.

She has been seen frequently on the lake since, and Ruth is very concerned when the Canada geese leave to fly south, Lucy could freeze to death during the upcoming winter. Ruth has asked lake residents be on the lookout for Lucy, and if she comes up on land to immediately call Ruth at 860.379.5361. Ruth will then be able to bring her back home. If only Lucy could talk, she might have a very interesting tale of her vacation on Highland Lake.

Here is a picture of Lucy .
