On August 16, 2010, my husband Larry Beck left his dock at 8:30 a.m. in Taylor Brook Cove and swam the entire length of Highland Lake, finishing at the boat launch area at 10:00 a.m.
I was driving the boat, and Nora Mocarski was acting as lifeguard and spotter. Larry said he set this goal as a birthday incentive at age 65 (which he turned in July). "Each point along the way was a goal to reach, and after I swam through the narrows and looked for the boat launch, I figured, I could make it all the way.” He did the crawl stroke the entire length.
Congratulations to Larry on this achievement!
