Back to Spring 2008 Newsletter Table of Contents
For many of us who live quite a distance away, it's often hard to participate in the activities sponsored by the Association. It was wonderful to end a cold winter week with a chance to feel the warmth of new friends and neighbors in a setting like Crystal Peak. It had seemed like a bit too much effort as the weather forecasts showed snow in "the Northwest Corner," but all was clear and ready for us.
The facility was lovely in itself, but the tiny trees full of white lights and the table decorations put together by Rhonda Marchand added that touch of magic. As we mingled and met the people whose names had become familiar over the years, it seemed more like a "neighborhood" get-together. Pat Masucci even made a point of introducing us to others as she helped us find a table spot, and everyone else received a warm welcome as well. It was fun to check out all the items in the Silent Auction . . . many local businesses had lent their support.
Everyone needs a reason to put on their best and dance to the likes of Eric Clapton, Chubby Checker, the Righteous Brothers and many Big Band sounds. The wide variety of music by KeBar along with the wonderful buffet made the evening a success in every way.
In addition to having a wonderful time, it helped to hear firsthand of many of the events and concerns of our lake neighbors. I left feeling I had a "home" on Highland Lake and many friends - the extra effort it had taken to get there was well worth it. Thank you to all who worked so hard to make special night.
A Note from the Dance Planning Committee
Every year we as a committee try to plan a dance that would be pleasing to everyone. We try to take into mind different people's likes and dislikes so the dance is enjoyed by all. We would like to thank the 80 people who attended this year's dance on January 26. You are what made it special and an overwhelming success. Our dance this past year was held at Crystal Peak. Everyone enjoyed hors d’oeuvres, a scrumptious buffet and delicious dessert. The waitresses outdid themselves passing the hors d’oeuvres to everyone present. And we danced the night away listening to the music of KeBar. Several local merchants once again willingly donated items for our raffle and we want to let them know how much we appreciate them. As you may have noticed, we changed the location and time of year for the dance. We hope that fit into your busy schedule. If anyone has any comments you would like to share with the committee, we welcome them. Please contact Patty Masucci at 860.379.2303.
