East Wakefield Construction

by Dick Labich

The HLWA notified its membership by email during the first week of August that construction would shortly begin on East Wakefield Boulevard between Norwood Road and Norcross Road, adjacent to Jean Lor Cove. That construction will already have begun as this issue of the newsletter is distributed, and it is scheduled to be completed by September 21. The purpose of the construction is to install five new catch basins to catch a large portion of the sediment currently flowing into the lake.

Town officials have approved the closing of East Wakefield Boulevard by the contractor during working hours until the beginning of the school year, when the road must be open to school bus traffic. The closing of the road allows for a more efficient and economical construction. However, access to the road for mail and trash removal will be maintained for all properties within the limits of construction.

The funding for the project is paid for by two grants from the Department of Environmental Protection.
